Wuzhen, in the north of Zhejiang Province, is an ancient water town with well-preserved 16th-century buildings and stone bridges, a perfect setting for drama, literature and art. The town is now hosting the ninth Wuzhen Theatre Festival.
乌镇位于浙江省北部，是一个古老的水乡，拥有保存完好的16世纪建筑和石桥，是戏剧、文学和艺术的完美场所。该镇现在正在举办第九届乌镇戏剧节。
Featuring 63 performances of 22 plays in the town, the 10-day Wuzhen Theatre Festival runs from November 25 to December 5. The festival consists of theatrical performances, a theater market , outdoor carnivals and a competition for emerging ( 新兴的 ) theater artists. It provides a platform for promising actors to be “ seen ” , and helps fresh blood enter the Chinese theater industry. The festival also features various street performances, offering an immersive ( 沉浸式的 ) experience for the visitors, to find the hidden gems in the town.
为期10天的乌镇戏剧节于11月25日至12月5日在镇上上演了22部戏剧的63场演出。电影节包括戏剧表演、戏剧市场、户外嘉年华和新兴戏剧艺术家竞赛。它为有前途的演员提供了 “被看到” 的平台，并帮助fresh blood进入中国戏剧产业。这个节日还以各种街头表演为特色，为游客提供身临其境的体验，在镇上寻找隐藏的宝石。
Huang Lei, the co-founder and producing director of the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, said: “ We have received 541 plays; 18 plays have been chosen. Right now, 18 teams have safely arrived here. Starting tomorrow, they will start their performances, which people are mostly looking forward to. ”
乌镇戏剧节的联合创始人兼制作总监黄磊说: “我们已经收到了541部戏剧; 已经选择了18部戏剧。现在，18个小组已经安全抵达这里。从明天开始，他们将开始他们的表演，这是人们最期待的。”
This year ’ s theme is “ 丰 ” , meaning “ abundance. ” Organizers say they chose this word because despite the challenging times that people are living in, there ’ s still an abundance of creativity and warmth in their hearts. Stan Lai, the co-founder and festival director of the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, said a lot of effort has been made to make this year ’ s events happen. Lai said: “ It ’ s been difficult, really difficult, to make this festival happen. But we need to continue doing this, even if just a few people show up. We hope to give people a warm feeling at this special time of year. ”
